Beginning January 1, 2001, the generation of electricity in Ohio became deregulated. Ohioans can choose to stay with their local electric utility or choose an alternative generation supplier, where available.

What Was Deregulated?
Generation The production of electricity. Deregulated	Distribution The delivery of electricity over wires. Regulated

Choosing DP&L requires no action on your part. Choosing an alternative supplier requires signing a contract with a new supplier. Regardless, DP&L will continue to deliver electricity to you over wires owned and serviced by DP&L.

Remove Your Name From List Supplied to Alternative Suppliers

As a result of deregulation, DP&L is required to include your name, address, and usage information on a list of eligible customers that is made available to other electric service providers.

You can remove your name from this list. Removing your name from the list does not restrict your ability to choose a different electric service provider.
