Prairie Restoration
Prairie grass plantings will enhance local environments by converting turf areas on some of DP&L's property to prairie meadows.
The natural landscapes will:
- reduce noise and emissions caused by mowing.
- provide an aesthetic, natural buffer between DP&L's equipment and adjacent properties.
- restore what had been prairie in the northeastern part of our service area prior to the settlement of Ohio.
DP&L has many locations throughout the Miami Valley where it will be planting prairie grass. The company plans to plant hundreds of acres of prairie grass on its properties during the multiple-year project in Montgomery, Miami, Warren, Greene, Clinton, Darke and Logan counties.
