Information for Landlords

Landlord Agreement
Dayton Power & Light offers the opportunity for rental property owners to have electric service automatically transferred into their name when a tenant contacts our office to close their account.

If a Landlord Agreement is in place and a tenant contacts DP&L to close the account, the electric service is transferred into the owner's name rather than disconnected.

When a Landlord Agreement is requested, a confirmation letter is automatically mailed to the owner who established the agreement. It is then the owner's responsibility to cancel or change the agreement if transfer is no longer wanted or if the property is sold.

There are times when the Landlord Agreement is not activated:
  • If the electric service must be disconnected to settle non-payment of a bill by the customer of record.
  • If there has been fraud or theft of electric service.
  • If the Landlord Agreement is set for a seasonal time period of the year. Seasonal Landlord Agreements can be set for the time period of November 1st to April 15th.
DP&L has the right to cancel or deny a Landlord Agreement based on the property owner's payment history with our company.

If you would like to set up a Landlord Agreement, or have questions about this option, please call DP&L Customer Service at 937-331-3900 or 1-800-433-8500.
