Ohio Electric Choice

Beginning January 1, 2001, the generation portion of the electric utility business became deregulated for customers of Ohio's investor-owned utilities, including Dayton Power and Light. Under the law, Ohioans can choose to stay with their local electric utility or choose an alternative generation supplier, if alternative generation suppliers are available.

Choosing DP&L requires no action on your part. Choosing an alternative supplier requires signing a contract with a new supplier. Regardless, DP&L will continue to deliver electricity to you over wires owned and serviced by DP&L.
