How far ahead can I schedule a pickup?
Pickups are typically scheduled 1 or 2 weeks in advance. You will receive a call 24-48 hours before your appointment date to confirm a 4-hour window for the pickup. On the day of your appointment, you will receive a call 30 minutes prior to the crew’s expected arrival time.
Back to TopWhen will I receive my check?
You will receive your check in the mail approximately 6 weeks after the unit is collected from your property. The envelope containing the check will display a return address from JACO Environmental, Inc. in Snohomish, WA.
Back to TopWhy is DP&L offering the program?
This is one of a series of programs that DP&L is launching to help customers save money and energy. This program helps customers save by reducing their energy needs. This ultimately translates into reduced carbon emissions, reduced impact on the region’s natural resources and delays the need for more power plants.
Back to TopHow much of the refrigerator or freezer is recycled and how does it benefit the environment?
Nearly 100 percent of each unit is recycled by JACO Environmental, a contractor hired to recycle refrigerators for DP&L, at a Columbus, Ohio recycling facility. All recycling procedures follow guidelines and best practices from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, allowing DP&L to be a utility partner in the EPA’s Responsible Appliance Disposal Program.
JACO safely disposes of toxins and ozone-destroying chlorofluorocarbon (CFC-11) gases from foam insulation. After capturing toxins (oils, mercury, pcbs) and ozone-depleting substances, (CFC-11 and other foam insulation blowing agents and CFC-12 and other refrigerants) JACO recycles all the plastic, metals and glass in the refrigerators and freezers, thus limiting landfill waste.
Back to TopWho is JACO?
