How often can I receive a DP&L HVAC Tune-Up Discount?

Your HVAC system is eligible for a tune-up discount once every five years.

Can I receive a discount if I have a service contract?

Yes, you can! Your service contract must be with a participating contractor to be eligible for the discount.

Are cooling tune-ups available year-round?

No. This program only runs in late spring, summer and early fall since it must be at least 55 or 60 degrees outdoors to perform an HVAC Tune-Up, depending on the type of system you have.

Are certain weather conditions required in order to perform a DP&L HVAC Tune-Up Discounts?

Yes. In order for a technician to correctly analyze your system, it must be at least 55 or 60 degrees outdoors and cannot be raining. There are other system temperature requirements that your technician may discover as he or she takes measurements which may prevent a correct analysis at any given time. If the correct conditions do not exist, the technician will not be able to perform the HVAC Tune-Up and your tune-up can be rescheduled.

Who do I contact to get a tune-up and who does the work?

To receive a tune-up, contact one of the participating contractors. The contractor you choose will come to your home and be the one performing the tune-up.

Is this program connected to Federal stimulus funding?

No. This program is implemented by DP&L. There is no connection to government funds.

My contractor is not a program participant. Can I still get a DP&L HVAC Tune-Up Discount?

To receive a DP&L HVAC Tune-Up Discount, you must work with a participating contractor.

Why is DP&L offering the program?

This is one of a series of programs that DP&L is launching to help customers save money and energy. This program helps customers save by reducing their energy needs. This ultimately translates into reduced carbon emissions, reduced impact on the region’s natural resources and delays the need for more power plants.

Are DP&L HVAC Tune-Up Discounts available for gas appliances?

No. Only electrically-supplied central air conditioning units are eligible for tune-ups. But perhaps you can take advantage of our other energy efficiency programs.
